You actually entered our house from this area though, taking a narrow walkway to the left in front of the living room window to get to the front door (see the whole house before here – we couldn’t even the front door when we first drove up! The after photo shows how we replaced the garage doors with a double French door and a set of windows that we moved from the side of the garage so that they would match the other windows on the front of the house.
In order to help the new living space blend with the rest of the house, we added a long porch by building a raised deck across the whole front of the house, adding rails and steps at each end.
